NUFFIELD 4/65
This 1969 Nuffield 4/65 is owned by Aaron Vallis. The tractor was originally sold by Tinknells and through several owners stayed local to Salisbury where it was purchased by Aaron. At first the tractor was left in original condition, however it became increasingly obvious that work was needed in order to keep it in a running state. The tractor had very poor brakes, even by Nuffield's standard, and so new brakes and seals were fitted.
The original fuel tank was beginning to cause issues with the fuel system, rust and debris from inside the tank caused blockages and let air into the system. It was decided a custom tank should be made and after a few weeks and adjustments it was fitted in. The last job remaining after the mechanical work was finished was to re-spray and paint the tractor. Days of sanding and under coating the chassis was followed by a few applications of the infamous Nuffield orange. The chassis was hand painted with the tin work removed to undergo patchwork welding. This process took months to complete in the spare time available. Once the tinwork had been straightened and filled out it was then primed and sprayed.
Once several coats had been applied the task of bolting everything back together began. After a few summer evenings all the bolts were tightened up and the finishing touches, such as decal application, were done. The tractor is still owned by Aaron and can often be seen attending the clubs’ events and local shows.
